General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
Many of you may already be aware of the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), on 25 May 2018. The GDPR replaces and enhances current data protection law in the form of the Data Protection Act (1998). These new regulations apply to all companies and organisations that take personal information (data) from its customers or members.
The introduction of the GDPR is a means of strengthening our current data protection processes even further and will provide additional protection and information to our members.
The Principles behind GDPR
Very broadly, the introduction of the GDPR outlines:
- how you as a member provide information to Boxing Scotland Ltd (BSL);
- why we need this information and its accuracy;
- what we use this information for;
- who we share this information with;
- how we store this information.
One aspect under the forthcoming GDPR implementation is the requirement that BSL members have a right to be informed with regards to the obligations of BSL when using your personal information. To that end, this information can be found in a privacy notice developed by BSL, which can be viewed on the BSL website and can be accessed directly here
We will continue to work to integrate the GDPR requirements into our systems and processes and will provide further information as and when appropriate.
Should you have any questions, please contact email@example.com or call the BSL Office on 0845 241 7016.
