Dear members & coaches
We have recently been working with in partnership with Scottish Disability Sport (S.D.S) and are excited to announce the delivery of our new Inclusive Coaching course.
It is our intention to stage three of these courses every year with the first one scheduled for Wednesday 26 September 2018 (18:30 – 21:30) in our Bridgeton High Performance Centre (Olympia Building, Orr Street, Bridgeton Cross, Glasgow G40 2QH). The course will initially be delivered by S.D.S representatives Heather Lowden & Richard Brickley MBE with the aim of having BSL coaches delivering the course thereafter. We are extremely grateful to both Heather & Richard for agreeing to deliver the course.
The course will be free of charge to all BSL registered coaches and numbers are limited to 25 coaches per course. The course will focus on a number of areas including:
- Perceptions;
- Understanding the participant;
- Divisioning with disability sport;
- Sports Inclusion model;
- Putting Theory into Practice;
- Terminology;
- Communication;
- Pathways within Disability sport;
- Practical boxing problem solving scenarios.
Any registered coach wishing to attend should notify marianne.mcmahon@boxingscotland.org or call 0845 241 7016 to reserve a place which will be given on a strictly first come first served basis. We look forward to seeing you there.
We will also be lettering all member clubs with regards to hosting monthly training sessions in our Bridgeton High Performance Centre for boxers with disabilities, following the above training.
