For the first time, the Novice Championships will allow 2001 born boxers in the following weight categories to compete and gain much needed experience;
26-28kg, 30kg, 32kg, 34kg, 36kg, 38kg, 40kg, 42kg, 44kg.
As has become normal practice, all confirmed entries for the 2012 Novice Championships will be posted on the ABS website and Facebook page shortly after the entries close at 17:00hrs on Friday 05 October 2012.
To date ABS has received over eighty entries and anticipate this could be the biggest Novice Championship ever. With this in mind, Sunday 28th October 2012 has been set aside as an ‘overspill’ day to allow for any outstanding bouts, from the 21st of October, to be contested. Details of these will be posted on the ABS website and Facebook page following the conclusion of the boxing on Sunday 21 October 2012.
As per the entry form, ABS cannot confirm the exact time or day boxers will compete in the championships as this will be dependent on the draw. Announcements will be made during the Novice Championships as to when the boxing will cease each day.
Clubs will be issued coaches bands by post and the amount will be determined by how many boxers each club has entered into the championships. Clubs with less than 5 boxers will be issued two, between 5-7 will be issued three and more than 8 will be issued four. These must be worn by coaches on arrival at Ravenscraig Sport Centre and for the duration of the Novice Championships. Where possible, Coaches must present their Coach Registration badges to collect their wristbands.
Weigh-in and medicals will commence at 8.30am sharp on Saturday 20 October 2012 and will conclude at 10.00am.
Boxers in weight categories with single entries who wish to spectate will be required to weigh in to collect their band. This will allow boxers entry for the duration of the Novice Championships to spectate.
Tickets are priced at £10 for adults and £7 concessions with two day tickets also available priced £15 adults and £10 concessions all available at the ticket desk.
Doors will open at 11.45am on Saturday 20 October 2012.
ABS looks forward to seeing all boxers, coaches, family members and supporters there.
