With less than two weeks to go, we would like to inform all Boxers, Coaches, Officials and Volunteers of important information relating to the forthcoming 2013 Boxing Scotland Novice Championships being held on 19, 20, 27 and 28 October 2013.
Saturday 19 October 2013
1. Weigh-ins and medicals will take place at 8.00am and not 8.30am as previously advertised. These will take place in the Motherwell College room upstairs from the athletics hall to the back of the facility. Due to anticipated numbers, coaches will not be allowed upstairs and boxers will be filtered in batches of 40 to the weigh-in/medical room to avoid congestion outside;
2. Coach bands will be issued in the Main Hall where the boxing will take place. The amount given to each club will be determined by how many boxers each club has entered into the championships. Clubs with less than 1-3 boxers will be issued two, between 4-7 will be issued three and 8 or more will be issued with four bands. These must be worn by coaches at all times and retained for the duration of the first weekend of the Novice Championships as replacements will not be issued. New coach bands will be issued on Saturday 26 October 2013 for the finals sessions and Coaches must present valid Coach Registration badges to collect their wristbands;
3. All Officials should report to the facility and register no later than 10.30am.
4. Boxing will commence as close to 12pm as possible on Saturday 19 October 2013.
5. Boxing will cease, in both rings, on Saturday 19 October 2013 following bout 40 or 6.00pm – whichever comes first. Details for Sunday 20 October 2013 will be announced in due course.
The event will be held in the Main Hall of the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility on all four days – 19, 20, 26 and 27 October 2013. The weekend of 26&27 October 2013 has been set aside to contest all finals. Further details on the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility can be found below:

All confirmed entries for the 2013 Novice Championships will be posted on the ABS website and Facebook by Friday 11 October 2013
As per the entry form, ABS cannot confirm the exact time or day boxers will compete in the championships as this will be dependent on the draw. Announcements will be made by the MC during the Novice Championships as to when the boxing will cease each day.
Boxers in weight categories with single entries who wish to spectate will be required to weigh in to collect their band. This will allow boxers entry for the duration of the Novice Championships to spectate.
Tickets are priced at £10 for adults and £7 concessions with two day tickets also available priced £15 adults and £10 concessions all available at the ticket desk.
Doors will open at 11.45am on Saturday 19 October 2012.
An open invitation to Officials has been issued and it would be appreciated if all those planning to attend confirm their availability for this event. There will be plenty of roles to fill and any volunteers who will not be officiating at the event, are urged to contact the Boxing Scotland office, to offer their services on their chosen days over the two weekends.
Boxing Scotland will appoint officials for the weigh-in, medical carding and other roles at the event.
Travel expenses will be reimbursed for those in attendance subject to completion of an expense claim form.
Referees and Judges are required to dress as per AIBA rules.
