We would like to provide all clubs with boxers entered into the 2014 Boxing Scotland Youth Championships of a significant update regarding entries.
At the time of publishing the entry forms on 13 January 2014, the Home Nations (Scotland, England and Wales) had yet to agree what format and when the 2014 GB Youth Championships would take place.
This was because of rule changes recently implemented at a World level which now prevent Home Nations submitting individual entries for teams to compete in the World Youths. This means that only a Great Britain team entry will be accepted. Furthermore, there will only be ten male titles available during this years World Youth Championships as the 1996 and 1997 years of birth have been merged:
Male Youth 10 Weight Categories:
46-49kg, 52kg, 56kg, 60kg, 64kg, 69kg, 75kg, 81kg, 91kg, 91+kg
As a result, both the 2014 Scottish Youth and GB Youth Championships will now be conducted in a similar fashion and only one title, per weight category, can now be won. Accordingly, we have revised our preliminary confirmed entry forms to include the above changes and these can be seen below.
We understand this may cause some inconvenience to those who had entered the championships believing they would box for a title solely against other boxers with the same year of birth. Consequently, we will refund any club the entry fee should it wish to withdraw a boxer as a result of these changes.
