Boxing Scotland is delighted to share more details on the ‘Return to Competitive Boxing’ event scheduled for August.
After what has been the most demanding of years for all involved in the sport of boxing, on Saturday 21st August we will see boxers compete again for the first time in 17 months.
The one-off open class pilot event for School and Junior boxers will be held at our new look National High-Performance Centre in Bridgeton, Glasgow for a full competitive day of boxing.
There will be no entry fee for boxers to enter this event.
However, as there are 115 weight categories over six age groups, this means that we will not be able to have a bout for everyone who enters.
Due to the anticipated number of boxers, we will hold a ballot to determine entries and aim to have a minimum of two bouts for each year group. We will also create a reserve list to replace any boxers who drop out of the event.
Based on the current COVID restrictions and projected information, unfortunately there will be no access for spectators to the event, however Boxing Scotland is currently working to secure the event to be live-streamed. More information will follow on this in due course. Be assured that we will inform out immediately should there be any change through sportscotland regarding spectator attendance to events.
Please note before completing the Entry Form below;
- This is an open class event and as such clubs are reminded only to enter boxers who can compete at this level.
- It is the responsibility of the Club to ensure that the boxer is entered at an appropriate weight. Boxers can only enter at one weight and cannot alter the weight entered at once the form has been submitted.
- It is the responsibility of the Club to complete the application form fully. Only complete applications will be accepted. Incomplete forms will be set aside and not entered into the ballot.
- The competition is only open for clubs who are currently affiliated to Boxing Scotland (season 2020-21).
The closing date for the Entry Form is Friday 18th June at 5pm.
Final entries will be published on the Boxing Scotland website and social media ahead of the event, as will any further relevant details.
Boxers do not have to be currently registered with Boxing Scotland in order to enter (season 2020-21), however they will have to be registered for the 2021-22 season before the event in order to compete. Affiliation information regarding the 2021-22 season will be published in due course.
Please note, this event is dependent on the Scottish Governments roadmap and Covid conditions at the time. In the event of any changes out of our control, we will amend the date and/or venue accordingly.
