July 14, 2013 By Paul Coleman

ABS logo process

Amateur Boxing Scotland (ABS) Limited is seeking to appoint two new Directors.

The next few years provide an unprecedented opportunity for sport in Scotland. The ABS Board has developed a strong, skills-based Board and we are keen to appoint candidates with the vision and drive to take forward ABS further.

With the right skills and experience our Directors will play a key role in further increasing the profile of ABS so that it can support and represent the interests of our sport and positively influence policy and strategy at a national and government level.

Additionally, it is important that our Directors can work together as a strong and effective Board to maximise their skills and further the impact of ABS.

Prospective candidates should declare their interest in the form of a letter that explains how their skills and experience address the key roles and responsibilities outlined in the role descriptor below.

This letter must be accompanied by a C .V. and should be addressed, under the cover of Private and Confidential, to: Richard Thomas, Chairman, ABS Ltd, 5 Nasmyth Court, Houston Industrial Estate, Livingston, EH54 5EG.

To provide strategic direction and leadership to the Board of ABS.

To engage with other Board members in assessing and improving the organisation’s performance.

The Director role will involve a degree of hands-on work through presentation of ABS’s aims and policies to partner organisations and external agencies. It is estimated the time commitment should be no more than 6 hours per month.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The ABS Board will meet no more than six times per year, (meetings are currently held in Livingston) and will have fiduciary duties for the sport of Amateur Boxing in Scotland.

Expenses will be re-imbursed for any travel and accommodation required through the role of ABS Director.
