The final deadline for clubs to return all their MORs paperwork passed on Tuesday 30th April 2013. Our Club Development Officer has now received 95 MORs checklists from our 113 affiliated clubs. Only 63 of the 95 have provided sufficient evidence to verify their MOR’s scores.
All clubs still to submit their MORs checklist and/or outstanding evidence should contact james.docherty@abs-ltd.org.uk as soon as possible to confirm that their MORs paperwork will still be accepted.
Clubs that have made no effort to return their MORs paperwork &/or contact ABS to discuss the MORs are listed below;
• Inverness City ABC
• Lochside Forres ABC
• Orbiston ABC
• Paisley ABC
• Strathclyde University ABC
Clubs who have returned their MORs checklist, but have not provided any of the required evidence to verify their MORs scores are;
• Arbroath ABC
• Dennistoun McNair ABC
• Dunfermline ABC
• Glasgow Phoenix ABC
• Kincorth ABC
• Kinross ABC
• Renton ABC
A key aim for ABS was to establish a clear measurable set of Minimum Operating Requirements (MORs) for amateur boxing clubs in Scotland. The MORs focus on four key areas which are club constitution, club facilities, club personnel and club procedural matters. These are areas which, if ABS MORs are met, will make for safe, strong and sustainable clubs which are the very foundation of boxing in Scotland.
ABS would like to offer its sincere congratulations to the clubs mentioned above that have achieved the MORs.
ABS has received some very positive feedback since implementing the Minimum Operating Requirements, some of which are below:
Douglas Fraser (Leith Victoria AAC, Eastern District)
“I got a bit worried when the ABS MORs paperwork initially arrived through the door, as it looked like a ton of extra work and paperwork. But, as I sifted through the paperwork, I realised the club already had a lot of the requirements in place. After completing the MORs checklist and providing all the required evidence, I would have to agree that the ABS Minimum operating Requirements will make for stronger, more efficient clubs”
Tom Payne (Garnock Valley ABC, Western District)
The ABS Minimum Operating Requirements were a wee wake up call for me and the rest of the club, as I’m sure they were for a lot of clubs. It actually made me take a step back to see how we were running things and look at how we could improve. Going through the MORs with the club has definitely been a worthwhile process, and I’d recommend the ABS Minimum Operating Requirements to any club”
Donald Campbell (Elgin ABC, Northern District)
“Like every other sport, boxing has to move with the times, and the ABS Minimum Operating Requirements (MORs) will ensure the sport is moving in the right direction. These requirements should have been reviewed, updated and implemented some time ago, but ABS did not have the right structure in place or enough staff to implement the MORs properly until now. Many people are not aware that ABS funding is reliant on the organisation and its member clubs meeting and maintaining high operational standards at all times”
“I would like to congratulate ABS and the ABS Board for the recent Schoolboy performances at the 2012-13 GB Schoolboy Championships. Winning ten gold and thirteen silver medals, is a great achievement and possibly our best medal haul ever at that event”
