Anthony Joshua Fund to help “keep the lights on” in clubs most financially impacted by coronavirus pandemic now open

January 18, 2021 By Ben Holme

Dear Members,

Applications to a one-off Fund provided by World Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua are now open.

The 2012 Olympic Gold medalist provided a donation to Boxing Scotland, in addition to Boxing Governing Bodies in England and Wales, to help clubs survive amid the ongoing pandemic.

An agreement is in place that all funding is ring-fenced for the clubs only and that the money will go to the clubs in greatest need of support as restrictions tighten across the United Kingdom.

With this in mind, the application is open to affiliated clubs who require essential funding to avoid potentially having to close down permanently before the end of the 2020-21 season (ie July 31st 2021).

Clubs will be able to apply for a one-off grant of between £500-£2,000. The deadline for application is 12pm on Monday 8th February 2021.

Anthony Joshua OBE said: “The sport has given me a lot and I want to help highlight the issues affecting grassroots clubs and do what I can to keep the lights on to those most in need.”

The application form and supporting documents should be e-mailed to ben.holme@boxingscotland.org

If anyone requires any assistance with the application please contact your District’s Regional Development Officer.

Regards,

The Boxing Scotland Development Team
