BOXING Scotland would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who participated in last month’s Development A&B Championships.

For the third season in a row we received more than 700 entries for the event, with this season’s being the second largest Championships ever organised by Boxing Scotland.

A big well done to all the boxers who started or continued on their development, with more than 130 crowned Scottish Development champion.

Also a big thank you to all clubs, coaches, officials, doctors, MC’s, staff and other volunteers who helped to make the event happen.

In order to continue to offer the best possible experience at the Championships moving forward, we would like your feedback on the event.

BOXING Scotland are delighted to release details for the upcoming Performance Pathway Programme cycle, which will run from November 2023 to April 2024.

This will be the 7^th cycle of the bi-annual Pathway Programme ,which was first introduced in 2018, and remains the sole qualifying criteria for boxers to be selected on to National squads, such as the Elite Boxing Group (EBG), Elite Boxing Potential Group (EBP), Next Generation (NG) and Future Generation (FG).

After the culmination of Cycle 6 of the Pathway a review was undertaken with all data collated since its inception in 2018.  This was done to ensure that the model and delivery of the programme aligns with Boxing Scotland’s 2023-2027 strategy and objectives.

Please be advised that boxers entered onto the pathway programme must be open class level or identified as being capable of open sparring with any boxer within their region and born 2009 or earlier.

All boxers entered onto the cycle must also be entered into the upcoming 2024 Boxing Scotland Golden Gloves (Open) Championships.

Full details of the programme have been e-mailed out to key club contacts this afternoon, with a deadline of Monday 20^th November at 5pm for clubs to complete the Microsoft Form to submit their boxer to be eligible to attend Pathway sessions.

Upon completion of the application window, the session delivery will be communicated to each individual athlete and club.

ABERDEEN will host 10 international boxing contests this evening as Three Nations Collide in the Granite City.

The 10 bouts will be part of two evenings of international boxing set to take place at the Rox Hotel in Aberdeen between boxers from Scotland, England and Wales, with a further 13 international contests scheduled for tomorrow evening.

SCOTLAND’S Sam Hickey is set to compete in the inaugural World Boxing Cup event in Cologne, Germany this week.

The 2022 Commonwealth Games Gold medal winner is part of a 15-strong team from GB Boxing to travel to the event which takes place from October 27^th to November 1^st 2023.

The World Boxing Cup is a new competition series introduced by the new international federation, World Boxing, in which male and female boxers accrue ranking points over several stages of competition throughout the calendar year.

It culminates in a year-end Finals event when the stage winners and other top-ranked boxers compete for the main trophy.

Boxing Scotland was one of five National Federations to this week have a membership application approved by World Boxing, the new international federation established to keep boxing at the heart of the Olympic Movement, alongside the Philippines, Wales, Suriname and the US Virgin Islands.

Boxing Scotland, which also remains affiliated to the International Boxing Association (IBA), is one of 27 National Federations that will take part in World Boxing’s inaugural Congress in Frankfurt on November 25^th 2023.
