Boxing Scotland will be hosting our latest Development Roadshow event next week, on Monday 4^th October at 7:30pm.

These Roadshows are our opportunity to provide you with direct information about selected topics.

The Roadshows are open to all Coaches, Delegates, Committee Members and Working Officials of affiliated Boxing Scotland clubs.

The Agenda will be as follows;

4. Q&A.

Delivery time; Monday 4^th October, 7:30pm (Approx running time One hour)

Delivery Method; This Roadshow will be held via ZOOM.

Dear Members,

 First of all, I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who helped make the 2021 School and Junior Championships a big success.

This was our first Championships in 18 months due to the coronavirus pandemic and there was some terrific boxing on display.

Many thanks go to all of the boxers, coaches, officials and volunteers.

 It was great to meet many of you for the first time and I look forward to meeting many more of you throughout the season.

 For those of you who couldn’t make it, I hope you enjoyed viewing a selection of the bouts from the final day which were posted on Facebook.

 Looking forward, our next event is the Intermediate Championships on the weekend of October 16^th/17^th, also being held at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in Motherwell.

 Entries remain open for this event until 17:00 on Friday 1^st October.

 I am also pleased to announce that, following a successful test, we intend to stream bouts from the Intermediate Championships live on to YouTube.

 More details will follow on this in due course.

Boxing Scotland is looking forward to welcoming you all again to Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in Motherwell for the School and Junior Championships Finals on Saturday.

Ahead of the event, Boxing Scotland wishes to remind all members of a few things;

– There will be no coach badges or boxer cards to be collected for this weekend. Please ensure that you have all of the necessary badges/books for all coaches/boxers attending before leaving for the venue. If coaches do not have a badge, they will not be allowed access to the warm up area or the field of play;

– Boxing Scotland wishes to remind all clubs that they have a responsibility for the safety and welfare of all boxers at all times. It is the responsibility of the club to ensure they have an adequate number of coaches per child;

– All Coaches and Boxers will be mandated to wear a mask whilst inside Ravenscraig Sport Facility. Masks may be removed by boxers when warming up for bout preparation and competitive boxing only. Facemasks can be removed when boxers enter the Field of Play. Coaches must continue to wear a mask whilst boxing is taking place. There is also a QR Code for NHS Test & Protect within the Boxing area that members should sign up to.

Spectator Charges – Adult £15

Children U16 – Day £10

Facilities on Site: Ravenscraig has a small Café’ on-site, selling tea, coffee, and limited hot food.

Cash Machine: There is no cash machine on the premises – we have the ability to take contactless payments

Dear Members,

Boxing Scotland is happy to share with you more details regarding our new recreational membership.

As mentioned in the Boxing Scotland 2021-22 Club Pack and this season’s Affiliation Agreement, Boxing Scotland have introduced a £5 fee for recreational boxers to become a member of the Governing Body.  Recreational boxers will have to sign up to this membership in order to be covered by Boxing Scotland’s insurance for the 2021-22 season, with membership providing cover until July 31^st 2022.

Please note, with Boxing Scotland changing insurer to Bluefin Sports Insurance for this season, only members of Boxing Scotland will be covered by our insurance.  If clubs allow participants to train in their gym who have not signed up to one of Boxing Scotland’s affiliated membership strands, they do so at their own liability.  Registered boxers, coaches and officials are already a member of Boxing Scotland due to their annual individual registrations to Boxing Scotland and do not have to do anything additional this season.

Those who sign up at the link above will receive an e-mail receipt which they can show to the club to prove proof of membership for the 2021-22 season.

Boxing Scotland understands that clubs may have further questions regarding this new membership strand and so invite any interested parties to attend the next Development Roadshow on Monday 4th October where this will be discussed in more detail.

Scottish Student Sport (SSS), the organisation for student sport in Scotland, is seeking an energetic and committed individual to act as one of the lead volunteers within Scottish Student Boxing.

The Vice Chair will enjoy an excellent opportunity to contribute towards growing the sport and building a relationship with Boxing Scotland.

The selected individual will be a key figure in the drive towards improving and strengthening student boxing in Scotland.

The Vice Chair will work with the Chair and SSS staff to coordinate event delivery, manage a budget, participate in strategic planning, communicate with student participants, support event volunteers and improve both SGB engagement & club development.

Role Title: Scottish Student Boxing Vice Chair

Responsible to: Head of Competitions

Where (Location): Various within Scotland

Time commitment: Variable, 10-15 hours per month, with one full weekend tournament

Role duration: Minimum on year until 30th June 2022

Dear Members,

Please find the updated Entries list for the School and Junior Championships as of Thursday 9th September.

Boxing Scotland 2021 Scottish School and Junior Championships updated 1800 10-9

The Championships will be held at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility, Motherwell on the weekends of 18^th/19^th September and 25^th/26^th September.

Please note, where a boxer has entered in a weight category that has at least one other entry they will remain in their chosen weight category.

Where a boxer has been entered and is a single entry in that age and weight category, the club will be given the opportunity to have the boxer moved one weight classification up or down.

If a club wishes to do so they must request in writing to competitions@boxingscotland.org by 12pm on Friday 10th September.

All other administrative amendments (ie wrong club name/age category) must also be e-mailed to competitions@boxingscotland.org by 12pm on Friday 10th September.

All payments must also have been received by Boxing Scotland from clubs for entry by 12pm on Tuesday 14th September, with the draw due to take place shortly after this.

Further details regarding the Championships and information regarding spectators will be published in due course.
