Balaal Waheed completes his modern apprenticeship with Sparta Boxing Academy and Falkirk Council’s Employment and Training Unit.

Our Congratulations go to Balaal Waheed on completing his modern apprenticeship with Sparta Boxing Academy and Falkirk Council’s Employment and Training Unit. (ETU)  This was the first modern apprenticeship to go through a boxing gym in Scotland.

The Grangemouth Gym played an instrumental role in the career development of Balaal Waheed by hosting his apprenticeship.

The one year apprenticeship scheme was supported by Falkirk Council’s Employment and Training Unit (ETU) who tracked Balaal’s progress as he developed new skills and gained the necessary knowledge required to obtain the recognised qualification.

As part of the scheme Balaal had multiple units to complete, whilst showing the ability to plan and then deliver training sessions. As part of the scheme Balaal was required to show strong leadership skills, maintain enthusiasm, present clear communication skills and then deliver effective demonstrations.

Sam Mcleod Head Coach ” Having shadowed Club Coaches, Balaal has now started taking responsibility for aspects of club sessions. Indeed the club have noticed a change in Balaal both in terms of his confidence and general competence.”

Balaal a three time Scottish Champion (2x Novice) (1x Intermediate) will continue to work at the Boxing Academy and gym, whilst focusing mainly on his own training.

Balaal now plans to continue his education by applying to college to study Sports Coaching.
