Boxer Eligibility

January 13, 2014 By Paul Coleman

Prelims poster

Ahead of the 2014 Boxing Scotland Championships, we would like to remind all boxers and coaches of the current eligibility rules ahead of entering any Boxing Scotland Championship event.

As you will all be aware, the World Governing Body, AIBA, recently introduced worldwide rule changes through its Technical Rules in a bid to unify our sport.

The AIBA Technical Rules apply to AIBA Open Boxing (AOB), AIBA Professional Boxing (APB) and World Series Boxing (WSB) and are the only worldwide Technical Rules which AIBA National Member Federations, boxing members and clubs must follow and respect at all levels of competition.

No National Federation may develop its own Technical Rules that are contradictory to the AIBA Technical Rules.

With the above in mind and in order to protect the integrity of our forthcoming Championship events, all boxers planning to submit entries must comply with the AIBA eligibility rules which can be viewed by clicking on the following link (taken directly from the AIBA Technical Rules effective 23 August 2013):

AIBA Membership and Eligibility

Any boxer known or found to be in breach of these will not be permitted to box.
