Amateur Boxing Scotland’s first ever Cashback ‘Academy’ Boot Camp got underway yesterday in Kinlochleven, Highlands. No fewer than 25 young Cashback boxers are taking part in what is proving to be an action packed and exhilarating camp.
All attendees arrived at around 1pm yesterday, moving into their ‘bunkhouse’ home for the week and sitting down to a healthy option lunch. This was then followed by a map-reading exercise around the local area, with teams of 4 navigating around different points solving problems along the way.
On completion of the navigation exercise all the camp sat down to a much welcomed Roast Chicken Dinner and Rice pudding for desert! The coaches and boxers then went for a gentle stroll around the village before retiring to bed at 10pm.
All the boxers were woken sharp this morning to have breakfast, and then each room was set different tasks to complete from tidying the recreation area to cleaning the dishes!
Today has witnessed the boxers take part in several adventurous activities – including ice climbing and a vertical high wire course! The camp has been split down into 2 groups, with one group taking part in the adventure activities and the other being put through their paces in the boxing club. The groups will then swap over this afternoon, providing all attendees with an action packed (and tiring!) day.
Currently only on mid-morning of day 2 out of 5, the youngsters are thoroughly enjoying the experience and are relishing taking part in all the activities on offer.
Once today has come to a close, the camp will be briefed on what lays in store tomorrow – A FULL DAY SCALING THE HIGHEST POINT IN BRITAIN – BEN NEVIS!
