Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport (CWPS)
As you may be aware, over the last few months sportscotland has been working with Children 1st to create and pilot our very own safeguarding training – ‘Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport’ (CWPS). This resource has been piloted over the last few months and went LIVE on the 1st of April. CWPS replaces UK Coaching’s, Safeguarding and Protecting Children workshop (SPC), which will no longer be delivered through sportscotland. CWPS takes a blended learning approach: Module 1 is theory based eLearning and Module 2, a 3 hour face-to-face scenario-based learning. The main change from SPC is that each learner booked onto a CWPO course MUST complete Module 1 before attending the face-to-face Module 2. The CWPS eLearning Module 1 can be found via this link: CWPS eLearning Module 1 This must be completed prior to attending the workshop at the end of the session you will be asked to submit your name and email contact details. This will then be verified against your attendance certificate when completing the workshop. sportscotland will be working with our networks to communicate this major change in safeguarding training which will take time to embed. We should work together to communicate the changes to our respective SGB staff, volunteers, clubs, coaches and sporting communities. To accelerate the transition please ensure all volunteers are aware of CWPS and education and training systems/processes are updated as a matter of priority.
