Blog from Team Captain Callum Johnson from the Delhi Commonwealth Games
I’ve been made Captain of the Scottish Boxing Team and I am going to send you a blog every couple of days for the ABS website on how we are doing whats going on etc.
Firstly I just want to say how proud I am too be captain and thank you to the team for choosing me.
We all arrived at the airport around 11 oclock and had photos , some with media and some with family and friends there was a good buzz around the place.
We all got checked in no bother and chilled out once we got threw security, Our first flight was to Dubai which was a long flight but was comftable and it flew in.
Once we was at Dubai we had a few hours to kill so we did abit of window shopping as the $10,000 phones was alittle to expensive for us.
Once we arrived in Delhi we were met by some of the Commonwealth team and they looked after from the airport til we arrived at the games village. When we got to the village we were met by some of Commonwealth Games Scotland officials and they gave us a guided tour of the village and showed us to our apartments.
The village has been pleasantly suprising for us as what we heard on the news etc. but I think alot of the credit for that goes to the officials in Team Scotland as they have done alot of hard work making sure things are ready for us. In the village there are shops, games rooms, internet cafe, general store for magazines etc, hair salon, pretty much everything and anything we need is available. The food is amazing its open 24/7 and is choices from Asian, Italian, Indian, African, Western, sizzling salads and fruit. There are also fridges full of drinks located around the village which we can take when ever we want. All the boys are in good spirit and we are all looking forward to getting in the ring and getting the show started.
We started training thursday morning which gave us all of wednesday to recover. we are getting first class treatments from the medical/physio team an everything so far so good and there is a good atmosphere in and around the camp.
