The new 2013-14 Boxing Scotland season is well underway which will result in the implementation of the newly updated AIBA Rules – One of the most significant rule changes is the removal of headguards for Elite male boxers.
Given such drastic changes and to comply with the new AIBA Rules, Boxing Sotland Ltd have decided it would be prudent to offer Activity First Aid training to members which will cover areas including, but not limited to, cuts training and use of adrenalin in the corners.
Initially, Boxing Scotland is seeking to attract up to four volunteers from each of the three Districts to partake in the ‘Activity First Aid’ course and attend regular shows within their District to treat any cuts that occur during contests. This will ensure that fully trained experts are present at every District show, to deal with any cuts during a contest, should they occur.
Boxing Scotland has sourced a suitable First Aid course, which will cover First Aid, CPR, sports injuries, treating cuts and use of adrenalin in the corner during a boxing contest and other relevant First Aid modules. In future, the expectation will be that every club must have at least one fully qualified First Aider, who is trained up to deal with cuts during a contest.
The First Aid course covers a whole weekend of training from 9am-5pm and all candidates will be assessed following the training. Those passing the course will be fully qualified for three years. The full qualification details are listed below;
