It is with deep regret that we inform you of the passing of Mr George Ross, Port Glasgow Victoria ABC Secretary, on 24 April 2012 following a short period of illness.
George was a stalwart Official at both ABS Championship & Western District events and was well known and respected by everyone in Scottish amateur boxing circles.
George started his boxing career in the late 1940s and boxed in almost weekly shows for clubs such as LMS Rovers and the NB Loco Company in Glasgow.
He then moved into coaching and produced a number of talented boxers at the Johnstone ABC which included gold medallists at the Gaelic Games.
Laterally, George was the Secretary for the Port Glasgow Victoria ABC and an active member of the Scottish Ex Boxers Association.
Everyone at ABS would like to pass on their condolences to all of George’s friends and family – He will be sadly missed.
