Happy Commonwealth Day from Boxing Scotland

March 13, 2023 By Ben Holme

Happy Commonwealth Day from Boxing Scotland!

Commonwealth Day takes place on Monday 13th March 2023, marking the beginning of a week-long series of events and activities happening around the globe.

Commonwealth Day 2023 marks the tenth anniversary of the signing of the Commonwealth Charter, which was signed by Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 11 March 2013.

Boxing remains the most consistently successful Scottish sport at the Commonwealth Games, being the only one to win a medal at every single edition of the Commonwealth Games since they began in 1930.

Last year another chapter of success was written into the history books as Team Scotland enjoyed our most successful Games for Scottish boxers, as we won three Gold medals at a single Games for the first time.

Reese Lynch, Sam Hickey and Sean Lazzerini all became Commonwealth champions in Birmingham last summer, with Matthew McHale and Tyler Jolly also each winning a Bronze medal.
