Happy #InternationalWomensDay from everyone at Boxing Scotland.
The past year has brought many achievements and milestones for our female boxers in the ring, both internationally and domestically.
The highlights from the past 12 months include;
- Niamh Mitchell becoming the first female boxer to win a major international Gold medal for Scotland as she became European Junior Champion in Italy in October 2022. The triumph was just Scotland’s seventh ever European boxing Gold medal, either male or female.
- Niamh being named Young Athlete of the Year at the 2022 Scottish Sports Awards.
- Megan Reid becoming the first boxer to represent Scotland at three IBA Women’s World Championships when competing in Turkey in May 2022.
- Megan becoming just the third female boxer, after Megan Gordon and Vicky Glover, to represent Team Scotland at the Commonwealth Games when competing in Birmingham in August 2022.
- Brooke Neely and Maddie Clarkson each becoming three-time British champions at the GB Junior & Youth Three Nations Championships in Barnsley, England in June 2022.
