Two of Amateur Boxing Scotland’s Flagship Cashback Clubs were visited on Tuesday 21st May by Glasgow MSP Humza Yousaf. Duries ABC in Rutherglen and Argo ABC in Drumchapel played host to the visit, which was carried out whilst both clubs conducted a Cashback Academy session.
The Glasgow MSP was greeted by Fraser Walker and Craig McEvoy, Amateur Boxing Scotland’s Chief Operating Officer and Cashback Coordinator respectively. After a brief explanation of the Academy initiative, the boxers of both cubs shone and demonstrated an amazing array of skills and showed what they have learned Amateur Boxing Scotland Cashback Academy sessions.
Humza Yousaf MSP was also introduced to the lead Cashback coaches within each club, Archie Durie and his wife, Jackie, from Duries ABC followed by Paul McCann and the other clubs coaches from Argo ABC. Several youngsters within both clubs also had the opportunity to speak to the MSP, relaying how much they have been enjoying the Academy and how, in some cases, it has reformed their previous behaviour, improved their confidence and general health.
It was very apparent that Humza Yousaf MSP was extremely impressed with what he saw, highlighting himself the positive energy and family atmosphere in both clubs. Amateur Boxing Scotland would like to thank Humza Yousaf MSP for taking time out of his busy schedule to conduct the visit, and to Duries ABC and Argo ABC for playing marvellous hosts and demonstrating the ethos of the Amateur Boxing Academy.
