Keep Your Guard Up – Version 25 of the Boxing Scotland COVID-19 Guidance dated 21/01/22

January 21, 2022 By Paul Coleman

Dear Members,

As our members will be aware. The First Minister gave a coronavirus update to MSPs in the Scottish Parliament on Tuesday the 18th of January updating the country on the latest cases of the Omicron variant.  Thankfully, the numbers and the data are beginning to decline in Scotland.

During the First Minister’s speech to the Scottish Parliament on Tuesday (January 18) she confirmed a number of measures brought in before Christmas to tackle the omicron wave will be removed from the 24th of January.

  • From Monday 24th January the Scottish Government will remove the guidance advising adults against non-professional/Elite Pathway indoor contact sports allowing adult indoor contact sport to resume as normal.

We welcome this news for all our members, particularly those that have trained hard over the past few months to compete at the Scottish Novice Championships and beyond.

However, with omicron transmission rates still high in the population, the FM asked the public to still “remain cautious” in their social interactions “at this stage.”  Please continue to follow the www.nhsinform.scot/campaigns/test-and-protect guidance

Please familiarise yourself with version 25 of the Guidance document.  So that respective clubs and gyms remain a safe environment for members to participate in physical activity.  Updates are in red highlighted in Yellow.

Should you have any questions or want to discuss any aspects of the above please contact Paul Coleman by email in the first instance, and I will endeavour to get back to you.

In the meantime, please continue to stay safe and well.  Keep your Guard up!
