Stuart Burt boxed yesterday afternoon , and gave an outstanding performance, as he narrowly lost out to his Australian opponent, who will be representing his country at this years London Olympics.
After a busy first round, Stuart found himself 5-2 down. He had started the round well, but the Austrlian was picking up the vital points.
In the second round, however, Stuart really went for it, and had more success than in the first round, scoring five points. Despite his efforts, the Australian held onto his lead, and finished the round 10-7 up.
Stuart knew he had to produce blistering third round, and really went for it. He managed to pull it back to within one point, but in the end, this wasn’t enough, as the Australian held on to win the bout 12-11.
National Coach, Mike Keane, has said that the result doesn’t do Stuart’s performance any justice, as he really burst a gut to win this one, although it wasn’t to be.
Well done Stuart, on an excellent effort.
