Message from the Chairman – 2014 Novice Championships

October 27, 2014 By Paul Coleman

Dear Members

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the boxers, coaches, officials and volunteers whose contribution and support made our 2014 Novice Championships a truly exceptional competition.

This year’s event received a phenomenal 400 entries and saw the completion of 172 bouts over the course of four days. The standard of boxing throughout the four days of the tournament was truly fantastic and testament to the hard work of boxers and coaches present.

This year’s Novice Championships saw further encouraging growth in female entries with our best ever tally of 35 and we witnessed boxers aged from 10 to 37 competing to become 2014 Novice Champion.

While all the boxers who took part should be commended, particular congratulations must go to the Bronx Boxing Club which produced four champions from four entries, closely followed by Glasgow Phoenix, Dennistoun McNair and Inverness boxing clubs which all produced three champions.

There were also notable entries of over ten boxers from Inverness, Forgewood, Highland Boxing Academy and Leith Victoria showing the strength and depth our member clubs across the country.

I hope you enjoyed our 2014 Novice Championships as much me and would like to extend my congratulations to our 67 newly crowned Novice champions.

Best Regards,

Richard Thomas
