Find below a letter of thanks received from Mrs Vicky Gorn (mother of Fraser Gorn, Kelty ABC) in relation to the ABS squad who travelled to Kazakhstan for the Junior World Championships –
Dear ABS
As the mother of one of the junior boxers who was in Kazakhstan for the World Championships, I would like give my thanks for giving Fraser and the other boys this fantastic opportunity.
In Frasers case, he was absolutely gutted when he broke his foot 3 weeks before the Europeans and was forced to miss them along with the British Championships. His deadline was always going to be very tight to be fit for the Worlds and we appreciate that you and the coaches were very fair in standing by him when he could have been deemed a risk because of his injury and long time out of the ring.
Reaching the Worlds and making the quarter finals, Im sure will have put the disappointment of missing the European and British behind him, although I think he was gutted to miss out on a medal by one point!
I am sure I speak for all associated with amateur boxing in Scotland when I say how proud I am of all boys who travelled to Kazakhstan, and particularly Fraser and Aidan McGlynn for reaching World Quarter Finals. So thanks again for providing them with this great opportunity and all the financing that goes along with it.
Without trips like these our boxers will never know how good they are. Now we have lads who know they can box at World level and will have grown greatly in confidence and experience. It can only act as an inspiration for them to want to go on and achieve whatever dreams/ambitions they may have in the sport.
Please give our thanks to all coaches and officials who travelled as well.
Kind regards
Vicky
