New Boxing Scotland Affiliate Membership reimbursement scheme announced

September 6, 2023 By Ben Holme

Dear Members,

We are delighted to unveil a reimbursement plan for clubs with regards to our affiliate membership, which will help to assist clubs financially.

Since the beginning of the 2021-22 season, Boxing Scotland have offered an Affiliate membership for members who train at our affiliated clubs who are not registered boxers.

This membership, which costs £5, ensures that members who sign up are covered by the Boxing Scotland insurance for boxing related activity in the club gym.

From this season forward, we intend to give clubs half of the cost of the affiliate membership back as a credit for all of the affiliate members that the club have signed up for that season.

This will be used to reduce the cost of the club’s affiliation and associated costs, beginning from the 2024/25 season.

For example, one club currently has 52 affiliate members signed up through the affiliate membership scheme.

Therefore, at present this club will receive a £130 reduction in their affiliation and associated costs for next season.

There is no cap on the number of Affiliate members a club can sign up.

For example, if your club has 100 affiliate members by the end of this season (July 31st 2024) the club will receive a £250 reduction in affiliation and associated costs for the 2024/25 season.

We would urge clubs to sign their recreational/non-carded boxers up to the Boxing Scotland Affiliate Membership scheme in order to receive any potential credit for next season.

Registered boxers are already covered by the Boxing Scotland insurance and do not need to sign up to this membership.

Individuals can only sign up to the scheme at the link below;

https://www.boxingscotland.org/product/affiliate-membership/

Please note, the credit will go to the club that the member signed up with initially and is not transferable.

The affiliate member must clearly enter the clubs full name when signing up for the membership in order for Boxing Scotland to know which club is to receive the credit.

Only clubs who are affiliated with Boxing Scotland for the 2023/24 season are applicable to receive the credit.

Additionally, the club must re-affiliate for the following season, which begins August 1st 2024, in order to receive this credit.

Regards,

Boxing Scotland
