In what was to be a great display of courage and will to win, Team Scotland’s 63kg representative Daniel Allan showed true Braveheart spirit throughout his preliminary contest, much to the delight of the local supporters.
With Daniel facing the much more experienced Belorussian Southpaw, both boxers set an electric pace from the opening bell, which did not let up until the final round was over. Both were engaging with combination punching in all ranges, whereby once the last punch had landed, only seconds would pass until the next exchange would commence.
The Belorussian looked to have taken the 1st with a higher accuracy rate, but Daniel persevered going into the 2nd round, immediately taking the front foot initiative. Like a mirror image of the 1st, both boxers locked horns in heated exchanges, each one looking to land the eye catching last punch in every encounter. Daniel was beginning to close the gap on Stsiapanau; as the Belorussian looked to regroup in-between attacks, the Scotsman stuck to him like glue continuously forcing the pace throughout the close round.
The final 2 minutes witnessed an epic effort from the battling Scotsman. Daniel started the round executing his entire punch repertoire, constantly looking to find the gaps in his opponents guard. Using attack as a means to defend, Stsiapanau could not match Daniels tempo during the final stages, and could do nothing to stop the onslaughts he was receiving. As the final bell sounded, Team Scotland were delighted with Daniel’s performance, and irrespective of the final decision the Scotsman would take huge praise for his relentless effort and determination
Winner by Unanimous Decision: Mikita Stsiapanau BLR
