Scotland’s Commonwealth Youth Games Team To Be Announced

August 4, 2011 By Paul Coleman

On Tuesday (9 August 2011) Commonwealth Games Scotland will announce the 48 athletes who have been selected to represent Scotland at the fourth Commonwealth Youth Games in the Isle of Man 7-13 September 2011.

The Youth Games are proving to be an effective vehicle for developing young athletes and giving them an early experience of a multi-sport environment, with many going on to enjoy success at senior level. It is anticipated that many of the Scottish athletes, all of whom are under 18 years of age, who compete and win medals in the Isle of Man will go on to compete for Team Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014 or in 2018.

69 of the 71 Commonwealth nations and territories are taking part in seven sports: Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Cycling, Gymnastics, Rugby 7s and Swimming.
