SCOTLAND’S Luke Bibby has said he feels like he is in peak form heading into Saturday’s dual international with Ireland.
The reigning British Light-Welterweight champion will be one of more than 10 boxers from the Elite Boxing Group to represent Boxing Scotland in the dual match which takes place at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility from 7pm.
The bout will be the 22-year-old’s first of 2023, following training camps in Rotterdam with the Dutch National Squad and with the British Army Boxing team in Glasgow earlier this year.
The Perth Railway boxer will be hoping to put on a show as he is one of three Scots currently on assessment to potentially join the GB Boxing Squad in Sheffield, alongside Rob Roy’s Lennon Mulligan and Renfrewshire’s Aaron Cullen.
“Training has been superb off the back of two high level training camps,” Bibby told the Perthshire Advertiser.
“The first was over in the Netherlands with the Dutch team and then a week’s sparring camp in Glasgow with the British Army boxing team.
“I am also currently on assessment for Team GB and have had two assessments over the last couple of weeks.
“I feel I’m in peak form going into the dual international with Ireland and then a tournament in Lithuania which follows.”
Tickets for the dual international are priced at £25 and can be bought either at the door of the event (doors open 6:30pm, start time 7pm) or beforehand directly from the participating Scottish boxers.
Alternatively, tickets will be able to bought earlier on the day of Saturday 18th March at the Youth & Elite Golden Gloves Championships for just £5 for those who also buy a one or two-day ticket for those Championships.
The event will also be streamed live in partnership with JATV, however please note that we will be trialling an online PPV method for this event.
Further event details will follow in due course.
