Talent ID Training Report – Saturday 30 November 2013 and Saturday 07 December Training Details

December 4, 2013 By Paul Coleman

Boxing ScotlandSaturday 30th November saw another productive day for Boxing Scotland’s Talent ID boxers.

A total of three sessions were held, which consisted of:

Session 1 – 1997, 1998 and 1999 born boxers with 20 in attendance;

Session 2 – 2000, 2001 and 2002 born boxers, with 23 in attendance

Session 3 – Female boxers born 1997 to 2002 with 8 in attendance

All session’s started with the basic requirement to develop boxers. Balance, shape, distance and speed (B.S.D.S)

Balance – Working with the boxers getting them to understand why they should be in balance at all times.

Shape – To protect the target area and be comfortable to defend, attack or counter punch.

Distance – Understanding long, medium and short distances

Speed – The need for fast hand and fast feet.
Open sparring was carried out in the first and second sessions as many of the boxers present have been attending Talent ID for up to two years. The sessions concluded with circuit training, ground work followed by a warm down and weight check to finish the session.

The third session followed much the same theme as 1 and 2 Technique and touch sparring followed along with circuits and ground work to finish off.
