Team Scotland complete training camp with squad from Ireland following Dual International

March 29, 2023 By Ben Holme

TEAM Scotland have completed the training camp with boxers from Ireland.

Boxing Scotland were delighted to welcome the boxers from the Ulster High Performance Unit over the past few days, which included holding a Dual International on Saturday evening.

There was some magnificent boxing from the Scots at Ravenscraig in what was their first international bouts of the year, with Scotland getting the victory in all 13 contests.

This was our final camp of the training and sparring phase of early 2023, following trips to Holland and Wales to train with their High Performance boxers, before welcoming the British Army Boxing Team to Glasgow.

The boxers will now move into a competition phase, with a group of Junior and Youth boxers set to go to France for training and an international, while the Elite boxers will travel to Lithuania to compete in the Socikas International Boxing Tournament.

Boxing Scotland Performance Director and Joint National Coach Craig McEvoy said: “The Ireland camp is now complete.

“It was another successful camp and brings to an end our sparring block phase.

“This was our fourth camp and we are on track with the amount of rounds we want our boxers to have completed at this stage.

“We now have a Junior and Youth team setting off to France and an Elite team going to Lithuania later this week.”
