Vicky Glover has made history in becoming our first ever medal winner at a major Championship.
Vicky boxed Latvia’s Amanda Millere and won he quarter final of the European U22 Championships by a unanimous decision earlier today in Vladikavkaz, Russia.
This was always going to be a tough contest for Vicky as the Latvian was a strong come forward Boxer. However, Vicky used superior tactics to overcome her opponent by moving constantly into space and using well timed long punches.
Although Vicky won unanimously, it was an entertaining contest with both boxers using their strengths – Millere coming forward with strong bent arm shots and Vicky using the ring with to land long clean shots.
Vicky will now box England’s Ellie Scotney in the Semi Final times etc to follow.
An absolutely fantastic performance from Vicky who is getting better each contest and certainly won’t be settling for Bronze.
