Volunteer 2014: Join In

January 10, 2013 By Paul Coleman

Further to the initial post on 03 January 2013, ABS is delighted to inform members that the volunteering programme for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games launches on 14th January 2013. Critical to the success of this programme will be the identification of specialised volunteers who have a specific knowledge and understanding of their chosen sport.

Glasgow 2014 recognises that ABS’s influence could help it find volunteers for a number of crucial roles in the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Boxing Tournament;

  • Field of Play
  • Athlete Services
  • International Federation Services

ABS is now in possession of the previously mentioned sourcing code which is exclusively available to committee members, delegates, boxers, coaches and volunteers of ABS affiliated clubs.

This can now be shared with key individuals, however, Glasgow 2014 has requested that ABS reminds applicants that the code will merely act as a way for Glasgow 2014 to recognise applicants with particular skills. It is no guarantee of either an interview or volunteer role during the Games.

In order to gain the sourcing code, please call 0845 241 7016 and leave your name, ABS affiliated club name, a contact telephone number and the name of the ABS Club Secretary.

ABS will confirm, or otherwise, that individuals are associated with an affiliated club and subsequently provide the sourcing code.

The volunteer code is a unique identifier, designed to help Glasgow 2104 quickly recognise applicants with particular skills. In order to prevent the code being shared outwith affiliated clubs and individual members, ABS will keep a record of those individuals in receipt of the sourcing code and cross reference those using the code to apply to Glasgow 2014.

ABS is keen to assist Glasgow 2014 to identify the best calibre of volunteers possible and believes that the distribution of the code will help ensure the delivery of an outstanding, athlete centred and sport focused Games of world class competition.

The Games will be Scotland’s biggest ever sporting and cultural event and our volunteer programme is an amazing opportunity for people to join in and be the Games!

Apply Here:

                      http://volunteer.glasgow2014.com/

The volunteer code can be inputted into the form in ‘Step 2’ in the text box under the Pre-coded data section, it is clearly labelled as the Volunteer code.

ABS requests that those interested in applying only call on or after Monday 14 January 2013 when the online application system opens.
